2007 Magdalena Shiraz

The Magdalena 2007 Shiraz received no irrigation. The grapes were picked at 15.0 degrees baume. The wine was made at Ross Estate Winery and aged in new and shaved French and American oak for 12 months. The total amount of the 2007 Magdalena Shiraz produced was 192 doz. and the wine finished with an alcohol content of 14.5%.

Yeasty characters on the nose, with some spicy oak. Velvety tannins that linger.

 

 

2006 Magdalena Shiraz

The Magdalena 2006 Shiraz received no irrigation. The grapes were picked at 17.0 degrees baume. The wine was made at Ross Estate Winery under the guidance of Rod Chapman and aged in new and shaved French and American oak for 12 months. The barrels were medium grained, medium toast levels with no toasted heads.
The total amount of the 2006 Magdalena Shiraz produced was 366 doz. and the wine finished with an alcohol content of 15.9%.

Sweet fruit concentration with notes of cherry
and plum on the palate. A great wine.

Judges Comments: Deep red purple, inky, almost black. Youthful and vibrant. Attractive plum and spice nose. Rich, powerful and concentrated. Chunky, solid wine. Huge fruit intensity, slightly jammy fruit, rich. Mocha Oak. Good weight and excellent length. Well structured.
